Questions about Locksmith Services

Troubleshooting Guide

View All
My lock feels stiff. Is it worn out?

Wear, dirt, a damaged key or misalignment may cause stiffness. Stop using excessive force and note whether another authorized working key behaves differently. Absolute Security Locksmiths can check whether the lock needs service or replacement.

The door only locks when I lift or pull it. What could cause that?

The door and strike may no longer line up because of movement, hinge wear or other alignment issues. Avoid repeatedly forcing the lock. Ask Absolute Security Locksmiths to inspect the door fit and lock before choosing replacement hardware.

My lock is loose in the door. Is tightening it enough?

Loose hardware can come from fasteners, worn parts or damage around the lock. Avoid dismantling it or assuming a tighter screw will solve the cause. Absolute Security Locksmiths can assess the installation and whether the door still secures properly.

A newly installed lock rubs or will not latch. What should I do?

Stop forcing the door shut and note whether the problem happens with the door open, closed or both. Tell the installer or Absolute Security Locksmiths about the symptoms so the fit and installation can be checked.

Can I keep using a lock that works only sometimes?

Intermittent operation can lead to a lockout or leave the door unsecured. Arrange an inspection with Absolute Security Locksmiths before depending on the lock. If the door cannot be secured now, call 860-257-9200 to discuss prompt assistance.
